Our boys seem to have taken to going to school and playgroup with some enthusiasm. I'd love to claim that it is because we carefully prepared them for their new schools, talked them through what was going to happen, spent hours settling them in. The reality is somewhat different. They are enjoying school and nursery so much because, as Adam says, "going to storage and unpacking boxes is really boring".
So, my advice to anyone with a child starting school? Make the time spent at home so unbelivably dull that they will embrace any form of anything as far more fun.
In the meantime, I return to going to storage and unpacking boxes. It has to be said that the boys aren't wrong. Going to storage and unpacking boxes is really really boring.

Ha ha ha. I am sure that they will settle really well and yes boxes are boring, but necessary. How are you settling back in
ha ha ha, Yeah, school does sound way more appealing.
Definitley anything is more exciting than unpacking unl4ess of course you are me who is weird adn just loves unpacking - erll reading old newspapers and popping all that bubble wrap! (Too much time as a child flitting from place to place with the Army can do that you know!)
Definitely going to try that one! Maybe I'll feel the same way about work after we move.
I'm doing that with my 2yr old just now - she's going to school in September and can't wait because she's so bored at home. (I'm trying to keep her busy, honest.)
Hmmm. Definitely something to keep in mind. This may come in handy in the near future.
Awww, bless. I hope you guys are settling in well.
My boys were desperate to start preschool last September, after a whole summer hanging out basically with me.....glad to hear yours are fitting right in.
MH - it is like we've never been away, but I'm finding a few things quite bizarre!
Heather - I'd pay money to go to school than go to the storage place again.
TW - can you come over? Any time? I think I need you!
Glowstar - a tenner says you do!
Mwa - home is just pretty boring really. School is so much more fun.
TM - try it. Although I don't recommend actually going and putting a load of boxes into storage to take them out again - that would be a step too far.
Kat - pretty good. I think...
NVG - Proof my theory works ;-)
You are one clever mum. Welcome back.
So glad the boys are settling in well - what a relief!
My boys are a nightmare with boxes - they don't like any being thrown out because they want to make forts. I have to sneak them away!
Great idea - Max starts school in Sept so I can work on making the summer holidays as dull as possible!
I still can't believe you are home!!! Am even jealous of you being in the 'unpacking boxes' stage. I hope I am posting something similar in a few months time...
Unpacking might be boring as hell but I bet you're all so glad to be back home!

It's quite cool post. I had faced the situation when I have moved my son in to new school and he was really uncomfortable in new school and he doesn't wanted to leave his friends and teacher. But finally he understood.
