Two boys.
Lots of toys
Room for one toy box 40cm sq in the car*.
Not so many toys.
Starting to think I might be being a bit brutal in the toy cull.
*whilst the boys are having a lovely time playing in every playground in England, I'm back in Bosnia packin up the house before driving back with all our stuff. If it doesn't fit in the car then it has to be left behind.

Do they all have to fit in the car? I'm not quite getting this...
You ruthless woman! Probably for the best, what they don't have they wont miss and you wont have a house full of clutter, or even worse one full of boxes you'll never unpack.
We managed to survive 3 months with only 2 Trunkies full of toys when we arrived in Moscow. Admittedly, now our shipment has finally arrived I feel very guilty about that (it's as if all their Christmasses have come at once), and Boy #2 did start treating the entire neighbourhood as his personal toy library, but still, it wasn't so bad... And of course with birthdays etc you won't believe how quickly they'll all be replaced...
But do they know about it? Sibling and I were once very distraught at a community fete when we found a much loved (but parentally much hated) musical toy on the bric a brac :P
Brutal? I would say positively generous! But then again I am the wicked fairy who allows the LCM children to take a teeny weeny rucksack each with them on a trip.
And they have to be able to carry it themselves.
Amazing how canny and diligent they have become at such young ages!
LCM x
Iota - they boys are already back in England (with few toys). I'm back in Bosnia packing up the house and we are driving back. If it doesn't fit in the car, it ain't coming.
ZA - I'm feeling super ruthless and a bit guilty. I'm not nearly so good at culling my own stuff.
PM - that's what I reckon... just hope they don't notice the absence of a few old favourites - well played with sometimes but rather large toys.
Hampshire Flyer - I'm so with your parents on this one. Toys that make noises must go.... it's the only way to retain any sanity!
LCM - yes mine have to carry theirs too when they go on a trip. They do get pretty good pretty quickly at working out what they don't really want to take! How is Brazil going?
I have found that moving is a great way to de-clutter.
Its for the best - they'll rapidly reaccumulate once you're back (its not that long until Christmas ...)
I'm firmly of the belief that children have way too many toys these days. I'm constantly giving stuff away, yet every time they have a birthday party, we get another 15 or so, plus presents from aunts, uncles, grandparents. Also they get a couple of quid pocket money now and agaain and buy yet more crap. Don't worry. This time next year, your 40cmsq box will have mushroomed to take over your entire house.
Sounds like a great excuse for getting rid of all the stuff never played with. Hope the move is going well
They'll forget what they had if they don't see it. Probably. Besides, they will want new stuff all the time anyway. LOL
