Football Mania

Tomorrow is the day. For it is the day that Bosnia will take on Portugal in the first leg of the World Cup Qualifiers. Should Bosnia beat Portugal they will be going to South Africa, their first ever appearance at a major football tournament.

The country (at least the part of the country that supports Bosnia) is so excited it can hardly breathe. They do fancy their chances. Not only are Portugal without the ghastly Christiano Ronaldo but Bosnia’s brilliant duo of Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic are on fire. And totally brilliant. I might just be a little bit in love. Ok, I clearly need to get out more, neither would make Insomniac Mummy's Hot Or Not? Feature, but if they beat the Portuguese tomorrow night, they will be considered the hottest thing in the history of smokingly hot things. On fire indeed.

We'll be out and about watching the match in the squares and the cafes of Tuzla, along with pretty much everyone else. Even the parts of the country that support Serbia or Croatia will be watching with interest. Serbia has already qualified, Croatia is out. Much as many of the Bosnian Serbs or Croats might not actually support Bosnia, most would like to see the team do well.

So spare them a thought on Saturday, maybe even give them a cheer. It would be such a boost in a country that could really do with some positive news.

I will have my fingers crossed, would so love for that greasy obnoxious ***** (I'm guessing this is a family read blog) to have the smug, even more greasy, sneery smile wiped off his hideously ugly face.

Not to fond of the bloke, does it show?

c'mon Bosnia!!!

I love your new banner too. Didn't Portugal do quite well in the World Cup last time? Anyway, hope it goes well tommorrow!

In an almost English style, we'll be visiting some local friends for beer and curry before watching the match togther. We're expecting a noisy night in Mostar.

And then there's Wednesday...!

PHM - Thanks. Tara's friend Paul did a brilliant job. There's still some playing around to be done, but I feel like a new me!

VBH - You and me both. He is an odious, ghastly, slimey little oik. Come on Bosnia!

ZA - not bad. Bosnians, tall, dark, tempestuous....

RS - probably... but cheer for the Bosnians anyway!

WDA - CURRY? At a restaurant? WHERE? It'll be loud here too. Would you agree that the Croats are supporting Bosnia in this one? So excited about Wednesday. Still not sure about tickets but if I get some I'll let you know.

Gaelikaa - Dave wants to move to India. He LOVES cricket and isn't such a fan of football. x

Of course I can't possibly support any team other than En-ger-land but sending good wishes. NZ have just qualified which is also good news in our house (No 1 Son is half-Kiwi.

Hi Emily,

I have absolutely no interest in football whatsoever (which is unusual for a young guy I know lol) but I really hope B & H do well tonight, because as you say theyve never been part of any big international tournament and it would be fantastic if they got in.

Also if you want a curry I have authentic Indian curry recipes that I got from an Indian lady to share with you if you want. They take a little more effort to prepare but the end result is 100 times nicer then any bottled sauce. (I made a creamy chicken korma with pilau rice the other night for dinner-heaven!)

I think cooking a curry at home is the only way to go if you want one in B & H anyway though, as there's no Indian restarants around at all. But yeah if you're interested and can get the various spices there (Sarajevo will probably have them) let me know!

They should have never planned a wedding on the same day as this football game. During the dance pretty much everybody was glued to the TV!! I felt bad for Mevludin's cousin.

They lost 0-1! All is not yet lost but they have a tricky task ahead of them on Wednesday.

Anyway, Liz, I know how you feel. We are En-ger-land all the way, but I do do second teams too, so Bosnia it is. Congrats to NZ though!

Dino - Thanks for the offer. We actually make a lot of our own curries here, but the spices are difficult to get hold of in BiH. Sometimes in Sarajevo...

Chanda - I was thinking of your cousins getting married last night. Poor thing! No one would have been paying any attention at all.
