Our holidays. An almost wordless Wednesday

On our holidays we went to the Croatian Coast

Most of the time we stayed near the sea, but we did also go to Dubrovnik to get some ice cream and a bit of culture.

We spent a lot of time swimming in the crystal clear sea, the odd inland lake on the occasional island and many many pools.

Adam discovered what a jacuzzi was. This is the actual jacuzzi that he found. I'm sure that aged 4 the word 'jacuzzi' hadn't entered my vocabulary. Anyway it was fairly difficult to get him out. He is a man who likes a bit of luxury in his life. He is so born into the wrong family!

The Grandparents came too and spent plenty of time with their grandsons, talking, reading, swimming, playing and having a ball. Us parents made the most of it by catching up on a bit of reading and idling.

Luckily for us, being September, it was out of season. Got to love a bit of out of season holiday. The weather was cooler (meaning perfect temperatures for us Brits). It means that even in Dubrovnik it isn't so expensive and there aren't nearly as many people so there are much less of this:

At the end of the day parents and grandparents indulged in a bit of this whilst watching the sun go down. At least, most of us did. My cocktail was delicately sipped with one hand whilst holding my youngest on the loo whilst he did his daily poo. Turns out you can't off load all parental duties onto the grandparents!

A holiday to demonstrate what holidays should be all about.

Oh gorgeous pics. Sounds like you had a fab time. So pleased for you honey. Cocktails sound divine (despite not having all your attention)! Hope you're not too miffed to be back home xx

Fantastic! Yes Croatia by all accounts & from y r lovely pics, is great. Have yet to make it up there, though Budva in MN is only 3 1/2hrs from here in Tirana & that's v near Kotor & Dubrovnik. We'll do it one day before we leave! And 'out of season' holidays are just fab. Our kids break up here in 2nd week of June so we get that end of the out of season stuff!

It all looks beautiful! I'm not sure when I learnt the word 'jacuzzi' but it probably wasn't before I left school!

Thanks for your comment on my blog - very helpful indeed.

Next year, can I come too? Do you mind if I leave my kids behind, I wouldn't want to bother you too much with them (or me).
I love cocktails but nothing beats a cold glass of white wine, so no offense if I order that instead.

We were in Dubrovnik one Monday. It sure does win prizes for prettiness!

What a great post. One year on, hopefully life in this amazing place has finally settled. I love your stories and thank you for commenting on mine. :)

MT - pics sadly not mine but cocktails were divine, even with the poo aroma...

ck - it was!

Paradise - GO! You'll get there quicker than us. Took us 8 hours door to door from Tuzla. And it is worth it. If you do go and can do out of season stuff then I can recommend child friendly places to stay...

CW - glad it helped. Jacuzzis didn't enter my consciousness until my 20s I'm sure!

PHM - do come! Although bring kids, the more there are the less they bother the grown ups!

Victoria - it was!

Muddy - Croatia coast is amazing. Just a shame it takes us so long to get there.

WDA - We must have just missed you. I love Dubrovnik, but it is crowded! I love Mostar too though. And coming from Tuzla anywhere is beautiful...

Mwa - sadly not my phots, but you get the idea of what the holiday was like.

Ju - We're used to life here now. most of the time...

Iota - The Croatian coast is amazing. If you ever get the chance then you must go.

Sounds bliss. We are actually struggling a bit on holiday. Were expecting familial bliss and general paradise but actually struggling a bit. Sleepless nights still take their toll even when you've got 'nothing' to do on holiday.... Sick son isn't helping either.

Babies - I have just one word for you: Grandparents. You never thought you would do it, holiday with your parents, but it is gooooood. Promise.

Your holidays to the coast popped into my head this evening (random I know, must have been my unconscious desire to escape somewhere blissful...) so I did q quick search of your blog and found these divine photos. I know from 1st-hanf experience how beautiful the Croatian coast is but these picis do it glorious credit. Want that cocktail too...
