A green and pleasant land

We're back. The journey wasn't as bad as I feared, there was no vomiting, I had help from the magical calm and serene granny who arrived in Budapest as scheduled and we made it back to England without any major mishaps.

Since then there has been a feasting of sights, tastes and events. I have never seen the boys eat so much. Weetabix (I'd forgotten about Weetabix!), sausages, blueberries and Innocent Smoothies all disappearing at speeds unheard of. I've been indulging in my secret vice of really good white wines which send shivers of pleasure down my spine. The local white wine we drink in Bosnia, Krstic, is fine, really it is, but it isn't good. And if you are going to drink white wine I always think it best to make it good white wine.

We took the boys to a playground this afternoon. It was pouring with rain but that didn't dampen the spirits. The boys couldn't believe their luck - a playground without nails sticking out of the equipment, trains that ran past every couple of minutes, planes in the sky. All this excitement at once. I normally have to ration it out to keep the afternoons filled up.

As Luke swung higher and higher on the toddler swing (he hasn't been in one of those for a very long time) he was so excited.

- Mummy? (as the rain dripped off the end of his nose)

- yes darling?

- my habin a lubly time

- Me too Lukey. Me too.

And if there isn't any white wine? Squeeze a grape and let it go off. Always a way. MH

I think that is what they do to make the Krstic wine. Can certainly taste like that.

I love it!

oh the joys of eating HOME food....

Weetbix (Aussie version of weetAbix) is a missed food around here too. We have access to the UK weetAbix, but at over $8 + 14% tax for 24 biscuits (as opposed to weetbix at $4 flat for a 1kg box back home) it's turned into a Bronwen only treat rather than an everyday food.

Swings are rare in HK. A Chinese friend told me that they are considered too dangerous. I have found two playgrounds with them in the whole of HK, and we often get the bus there to play on them.

Eve loves the park near my parent's place in the UK, for all the reasons Luke does, and she can play with the dogs running around too.

Glad to hear you are having fun.

I hope you have many more lubly times, in Britain and Bosnia alike...

Aah - that's so lovely. Really glad you (and the boys) had a good time and that magical Granny made it so easy for you. There's nothing better than seeing your children so excited - it must have ben a very special trip.

BTW - have you changed the name of this post about 3 times or am I going mad?? :-))

Innocent Smoothies! Something else to add to the list of things not to forget when we pop back to the UK in Septemeber.

Is it wrong I could be accused of spending more time thinking about the food I miss than the people?!

I miss those "kings of the castle" so much...

PS: It looks that you will have another regular visitor to your blogs...

Do keep coming back Amel. We will leave you so much news about Tuzla that you will almost feel as if you are back here. And you will feel even more homesick when you read of burek, krompirusa and nights in the Underground.
